Official Trial Weekly Update

Hi everyone,

Well, the Official Trials have been played which means the footy season is well and truly underway.

We had two massive days at BoysTown with most teams enjoying a home game. The weekend started with our two mighty Under 6 teams playing their first games. I am not sure who had more fun, the kids playing or the parents watching.

Even though results do not mean anything on trials, we had two games that was won with mere seconds to go. The Under 8 Green side kicked a conversion with 20 seconds to go and the Under 13 GTL ignored the coaches’ words and went right instead of left and scored a try.

Our Senior Women’s side debuted and are looking sharp. The opposition was short, so half of that team was filled with Bosco players. So, all players got plenty of game time which was great to see.

Our A-Reserve side continues to build with another trial victory.

It was humbling and appreciated to see all teams wearing black armbands in support of Gracey Bridges from our Under 16 GTL team. Condolences to Gracey and her family on behalf of the Bosco Rugby League community.

Our Social Committee is starting to take shape as well as our Sports Luncheon Committee. We have some big plans for social events this season and we hope to have some key dates out in the next few weeks.

The canteen was very busy on both days so thank you to everyone who helped. We are however on the lookout for someone to help set the canteen up on Sunday mornings. Our canteen coordinator will do all the ordering. We just need someone to get the canteen ready. If anyone is interested, please let me know.

We also hope to see more people volunteer for ground setup (and pack up) both Saturday and Sunday. It was once again just the small number of committee members setting up so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Also, we need help with people wearing the Red Ground Control vest. Ideally it would be good to have two people always wearing a vest. One can be based at the score table and one can be roaming. It is difficult for one person to be in all places at the same time.

There are no games this weekend so enjoy the last weekend before the season starts. ANZAC Day is Sunday so ‘Lest We Forget’.

I aim to send out a weekly update after each round, time permitting.

Finally, the club cannot run without sponsors so thank you to all sponsors that are with us in 2021. They include:
