Guidelines for a safe return to footy in 2020

In just a few short weeks, Junior Rugby League and Girls Tag League will return and it is important that all players, officials and family members understand and follow the important safety guidelines that we will be following.

The NSWRL has put together the guidelines that the Cronulla JRL and Bosco Bulldogs will be adhering to to ensure the safety of everyone. In addition to reading this post please visit the NSWRL COVID-19 Resource Hub.

Maintaining good hygiene practices and adhering to social distancing rules will be important in the return to footy this year. We are asking everyone to familiarise themselves with the safety guidelines and respectfully request everyone to do their part in followig them for the safety and well being of everyone.

The NSWRL has put together an education slide show to help all players and parents understand what is expected and the guidelines our club has signed on to follow as part of being permitted to return to play in 2020.

We kindly request that all Bosco Bulldogs players, officials and parents comply with the following practices:

GOOD HYGIENE

  • Practice good hygiene by washing your hands often with soap and water.

  • Use alcohol-based hand sanitisers when you can’t use soap and water.

  • Hand-sanitizer will be available at ground entry/exit point on game-day and everyone is encouraged to use it..

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

  • Players are requested not to spit or clear their nose and mouth onto the sporting field.

  • Cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with a tissue or a flexed elbow and always put your used tissue straight in the bin.

UNWELL? STAY AWAY

  • If you feel unwell don't come to training, stay home until you feel better.

  • If you have been in contact with someone confirmed to have COVID-19 please stay home, get tested and contact us with your test results.

  • If you have returned from overseas please stay home, get tested and contact us with your test results.

  • If you have any symptoms such as a fever, coughing, sore throat, fatigued or shortness of breath also stay home.

TRAINING

As part of the NSWRL guidelines we must ensure that attendance is recorded for all training sessions. In addition please note that that full contact training will only be permitted from 1 July 2020.

The NSWRL Covid-19 Resource Hub has more details around training and associated safety requirements. We encourage all team managers and coaches to review the NSWRL Training Guidlines.

We kindly request all players, coaching staff and parents to adhere to the following training guidelines:

  • Be ready to train prior to arriving at the oval and leave as soon as training is finished.

  • Wash your hands or sanitise immediately before you commence training.

  • Only essential personnel should attend training sessions. This includes players, coaches, trainers and managers.

  • Parents and spectators are requested to observe from their vehicles or from outside of the oval.

  • Ensure that all participants in the training session including coaching staff have signed the attendance register.

  • Physical distancing (>1.5m) should be maintained when possible. Please note that all coaching staff and non-contact training activities should endeavor to adhere to this rule.

  • Practice good hygiene and no spitting or clearing of nasal passages is allowed on the oval.

  • Please bring your own water bottle. Sharing of water bottles is strictly prohibited.

GAME DAY

Game Day will be particularly challenging with clubs expected to minimise the number of people at the ground. All players and spectators are asked to observe good hygiene practices and maintain social distancing. Please be aware that there will be no change-rooms and all players are expected to arrive at the ground fully ready to warm-up and play.

All players, officials and spectators associated with a specific game are kindly requested to leave the ground immediately at the conclusion of the game. Additional time between games will be in place to allow the disbursement of people from one game and the entry of those for the next game.

At this stage a limited canteen will be operating but people are being encouraged to leave after their allocated game so as to minimise people at the grounds for safety reasons.

As a result of Covid-19 the NSWRL will be playing under Modified Rules.

We kindly request all players, coaching staff and parents to adhere to the following game day guidelines:

  • Be ready to play prior to arriving at the oval-playing kit, boots, headgear and have your water bottle and inhaler if required with you

  • Please wash your hands before you arrive to play.

  • All players and officials must sign the attendance register.

  • Physical distancing (>1.5m) should be maintained at all times. With the exception of players on the ground all other people at the ground including those sitting on the bench, coaching staff and spectators are expected to respect the 1.5m social-distancing rule.

  • Do not share any bibs or training gear with other players, the club will ensure you have your own

  • Practice good hygiene and no spitting or clearing of nasal passages is allowed on the oval.
